New Vaquero 45 Colt ammunition - Ruger Forum
Jun 1, 2010 · If the load information on the box says 45 Colt, 45 Long Colt, 45 LC, etc. and does NOT have a +p mentioned, it should be fine for the new vaquero. The hot loads refer to cartridges with pressure exceeding specification for the actual load. They are not safe in the NEW vaqueros.

May 12, 2013 · I have no experience with sub 250g bullets, as I've only shot 250g weight or higher. The 'standard' .45 Colt bullet is a 250g RNFP. I also like the 255g SWC. Hunting loads even use heavier bullets. FYI, there is no +P SAAMI standard for .45 Colt. You either have standard loads or Ruger Only Loads.

Feb 14, 2022 · I like 45 Colt and shoot a fair amount. I reload all I shoot. The 45 Colt is based a large dia. bullet at moderate velocity (800-900 fps) and is effective at these velocities. 900 fps is what I shoot for in standard pressure loads for deer. My personal limit is 50-60 yds with open sights and I have had good success with whitetails with these loads.

I read Pietta started manufacturing this model replica around 1966 of a Colt 45 Single Action Army designed in 1873. The gun Baldwin used may be a relatively new replica of the older but solid and reliable design. F.lli Pietta still manufactures them today.

For the 44 Mag, O.A.L. is 1.61 and for the 45 Colt, O.A.L. is 1.6. It should be noted that 45 Colt’s usually shoot bullets approximately .452-.454” in diameter and the 44 Mag shoots bullets .4295 - .431” in diameter.

Feb 11, 2020 · There's no SAAMI standard for .45 Colt +P, only .38 Special, 9x19mm, .38 ACP (.38 Super), and .45 ACP. SAAMI standard for .45 Colt is 14,000 psi. most "+P" loadings of .45 Colt seem to be in the 20,000+ psi range. That said, the .44 Magnum is a 36,000 psi cartridge, and the Marlin 1894 action handles it just fine.

Dec 25, 2010 · Thanks for info on 45 shot loads Thanks for the info on loading up some shot shells for the 45 colt.Gp 100 man, I look forward to trying these.Ive been reloading almost as long as Ive been shooting and the big colt is my favorite caliber.I use mostly the hard cast Keith style bullets.I never have had my best results with trying to hot rod the 45.

May 26, 2015 · A lot of old Colt .45 SAA's were brought back out of storage in the 1890's when the .38 Long Colt proved insufficient in the Phillipines. I kinda laugh to myself at the USFA "Custer" revolver, because Custer himself carried a pair of European pinfire revolvers.

Dec 25, 2013 · I really like Unique in my 45 Colt loads and the RCBS 45-270 SSA SWC bullet (See Pearce's article linked earlier) is stellar in both my New Vaquero and Marlin 1894. Some Leverguns won't feed the over long 1.660" SWC but it has worked well in all the Marlin's I've tried it in.
