I have a Sea Wit 2-port HDMI KVM switch (supports EDID), and at initial startup of my Lenovo T470s laptop everything works perfectly fine. But when I switch to my alternate computer (Samsung laptop running Windows 8.1, and does not experience this issue), then back I lose keyboard/mouse functionality, display works properly.

Jan 10, 2025 · I've tried the low res reboot; changing ends of the box to switch cable & a whole new cable, all 4 HDMI ports on the switch. Getting up and swapping pc/xbox HDMI cables to monitor isn't a possibility due to disability. I don't really want another monitor on my desk if I can help it, but if I have to I guess I will somehow.

Aug 24, 2012 · And, yes, the HDMI switch is set on the proper port. I can have the switch set to view my Desktop, shut off my Xbox 360, and watch as I lose my PC's signal. My caveman theory is that the HDMI switcher was using the power from the Xbox 360 to allow me to switch between the two sources.

Another option is to use a presentation remote with a built-in laser pointer and switch between the laptop and other HDMI sources using the remote. This will allow you to easily navigate between the different sources without having to physically switch the HDMI connection. Alternatively, you could use a video splitter instead of an HDMI switch.
