There was a clear desire to be inspired by traditional Inuit culture and thereby create a visible Greenlandic identity in art. Since then, almost all Greenlandic artists have been students and often also teachers at the school.

Nuuk Art Museum is the larger of only two Greenlandic Art Museums. It’s located in the center of Nuuk. The museum has a collection of over 1200 items and a large wing for changing exhibitions. The collection contains works by both local artist and foreign artist depicting Greenland.
