Feb 1, 2007 · The D.I.R.T. late model division was on life-support entering the 1980's. In the early part of the decade, the class was merged with the burgeoning 320 modified division and not long afterwards the D.I.R.T. late model was all but extinct.

Mar 27, 2009 · In 2001 Combs was a member of the inaugural class of inductees into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame. In 1980 Combs came to Iowa for three big races and with a combination of skill and lady luck walked away with wins in all three.

Nov 2, 2010 · Those stops were in 1980 at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids and in 1985 at the Knoxville Raceway. In May 1980, nearly 60 drivers from at least 10 states and Canada descended on Hawkeye Downs for the running of the NDRA Iowa 100.
