Southwest Airlines has acknowledged it intends to shut a flight attendant crew base in Fort Lauderdale, but a company spokesman said the move won’t impact its Florida service.

Southwest plans to close crew bases in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Austin, Texas. The company has been slashing unprofitable flights, reducing crews in some cities. Last month, Southwest said it would slash about 15% of its corporate headcount in its first-ever mass layoff.
