Cameco (NYSE:CCJ) said Thursday that controlling partner Kazatomprom has suspended production activity at the Inkai joint venture in Kazakhstan, citing the failure to receive an extension for submitting an updated Project for Uranium Deposit Development documentation from the government.

Uranium stocks are rising on Thursday after Canadian producer Cameco said output from its Inkai joint venture in Kazakhstan was unexpectedly halted.
