Apple’s latest iOS 18.1 software update introduced a series of Apple Intelligence features, including Writing Tools and notification summaries. However, Here’s what you need to know about Genmoji, the Apple Intelligence feature that many people are excited about.

You’ll be prompted to set up Apple Intelligence right after upgrading to iOS 18, but if you need to set it up later, head to Settings in iOS: Tap More for Your iPhone, and then Set Up Apple Intelligence. You’ll get an explanation of some of the AI upgrades you can use, and a short demo of how they work.

Apple users are unimpressed with current AI tools like Writing Tools and Smart Reply, but new Genmoji and ChatGPT integration could change the game.

Apple Intelligence isn’t turned on by default, You need to enable it to get started and can turn it off at any time. To get going, open Settings (System Settings on Mac), then select Apple Intelligence & Siri. On the next screen, tap Get Apple Intelligence.

Image Wand is a tool in the Markup mode found in Notes, Pages or any app that uses the system's built-in drawing capabilities. It, too, is text based, but you can start with a sketch or photo. Genmoji and Image Wand are currently available on the iPhone and iPad; Mac versions are coming in an upcoming software update.
