Billy Idol recently told UCR he was “knocked out” to receive his first Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination. “It’s a great honor,” he said. “If I do get to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, you really get a chance to thank your fans.

Manchester bands Oasis and New Order are among the 14 acts being considered for inclusion in the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. They're joined by artists such as Mariah Carey, Cyndi Lauper and The White Stripes on the 2025 longlist.

Earlier this week it was announced that Billy Idol, alongside Oasis, Soundgarden, The White Stripes and more, is on the longlist of nominees for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame this year. And it's fair to say that the British punk veteran is pretty chuffed by the news.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation on Wednesday announced 14 performer nominees for its 2025 induction, and four artists of color were among them. The artists of color include pop icon and R&B singer Mariah Carey, hip-hop duo Outkast, Rock and Roll singer and dancer Chubby Checker, and and Mexican pop rock band Maná.

Cyndi Lauper, whose two biggest hits were written with Philadelphians, is also nominated, along with OutKast, the White Stripes, Mariah Carey, the Black Crowes, and more.

The list of 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction nominations includes Chubby Checker, Billy Idol, Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Cyndi Lauper and more.

"It's a moment where people open their ears as we did when we were kids and listened to the Rolling Stones and the Eagles."
