Third baseman Cam Smith, who was one of the key pieces the Houston Astros got back from the Chicago Cubs in the Kyle Tucker trade, is suddenly seeing time in right field.

The Astros could use depth in the outfield, but the reality is that Smith has only played 35 games of consequential professional baseball, with eight of those games (33 plate appearances) being in Double-A. He's now played in eight games of Spring Training, making 22 plate appearances.

Asking Smith to learn a new position while adjusting to life in the majors might be ludicrous, but he has forced the Astros to consider it.
