A team preparing for the Ice Swimming World Championship has been forced to cancel training, after their open water venue froze over. The New Zealand Ice Water Swimming Team has been using the lake at Castle Ashby in Northamptonshire to acclimatise for the upcoming championships in Italy,

Monterey firefighters and police as well as New Marlborough Police and Massachusetts Environmental Police on Tuesday rescued a deer from the ice on Lake Buel. The deer struggled to stand on the ice, and was being blown towards open water by the high winds. It had been stranded since Monday.

Ice has now frozen around a stranded boat on the Lake Michigan shoreline in Milwaukee that's been there since Oct. 13.
