The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said a strong geomagnetic storm may cause an unusually bright northern lights display Monday night.

NOAA's forecast issued Monday predicted the aurora could be visible as low as New York, including most of New Hampshire. Tomorrow, on New Year's Eve, the forecast shows the aurora viewline reaching as low as the northern tip of New Hampshire.

The Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a strong geomagnetic storm watch, level G3 out of 5, for Dec. 31.
