Chapell Roan wins Best New Artist at the 67th annual Grammys — and uses her speech to demand better treatment of artists.

The pop princess known for her soaring, 80s-style vocals is joined by industry powerhouses Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar and more in the prestigious event's most coveted categories. Roan, who accepted a 2024 MTV Video Music Award for best new artist, worked as a singer-songwriter for nearly a decade before she gained acclaim last year.

The 26-year-old pop star, who took home the award for best new artist, showed up in an archival 2003 Jean Paul Gaultier gown, complete with her signature drag-inspired makeup by Hebron, Kentucky, native Andrew Dahling, according to Instagram posts from Dahling and Roan's stylist Genesis Webb.
