WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner is leaving the Phoenix Mercury after an 11-year career and intends to sign with the Atlanta Dream.

The Unrivaled Women’s Basketball League, a three-on-three professional women’s basketball league features a shorter court, six teams and 36 WNBA players, including three Phoenix Mercury players.

Brittney Griner is leaving the Valley for Atlanta. After 11 seasons entirely played with the Phoenix Mercury, the 10-time All-Star center Griner has agreed to join the Atlanta Dream in free agency. ESPN's Sham Charania and Alex Phillipou were first to break the news.

The Sun will receive guard Natasha Cloud, wing Rebecca Allen and the No. 12 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft in exchange for Thomas. Ty Harris will also head to Phoenix in the deal. The full trade was initially reported by Howard Megdal of The Next and later confirmed by Philippou.

The dominos continue to fall in the 2025 WNBA Free Agency, this time with Alyssa Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury. On Tuesday, the Mercury traded for the All-Star and Olympic Gold Medalist, according to Alexa Philippou of ESPN. Thomas was an unrestricted free agent, but the Connecticut Sun “cored” her, giving her a one-year extension.
