Maxey scored 43 points for the Sixers, who again played without All-Stars Joel Embiid and Paul George among others.

Tyrese Maxey and Darius Garland, two of the top young point guards in the Eastern Conference, faced off on Friday night. The Sixers snapped their seven-game losing streak in the most impressive way possible, outlasting the Cavaliers and their NBA-best record Friday night 132-129.

George, 34, has had an underwhelming debut season with the 76ers, averaging 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. George is set to miss his 16th game of the season, amid his worst statistical year in about a decade.

Tyrese Maxey had a big night with 31 points and nine assists to lead Philadelphia, Kelly Oubre Jr. had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and George had nine points before leaving with the injury. Reggie Jackson had 12 off the bench, Eric Gordon had 13, and Adem Bona had four and seven rebounds.
