New York City is expected to get winter weather over the weekend, with residents expected to wake up with 2-4 inches of snowfall
And while snow may begin to fall on the city as early as 7 p.m. Saturday, the steadiest snowfall is expected to come down in the overnight hours. At some point before 10 a.m. Sunday, snowfall rates are likely to reach half an inch per hour before 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the weather service.

NYC's Dept. of Sanitation issues snow alert for this weekend
NEW YORK - New York City's Department of Sanitation issued a snow alert for from tomorrow, Dec. 13, to Sunday, Dec. 14. Parts of New York City, Long Island and New Jersey could see up to 4 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. The Department of Sanitation issued the alert from 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 into 2 p.m. on Dec. 14.
On Wednesday at 12:36 p.m. the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory valid from 9 p.m. until Thursday 4 p.m. for Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis counties.
