The price to climb Mount Everest will soon increase for the first time in nearly a decade, as Nepal announces a sharp mark-up in permit fees. From September, those seeking to summit the world's tallest mountain during peak season will have to pay $15,000 (£12,180), a 36% rise on the longstanding fee of $11,000, officials said on Wednesday.

For those who want to climb Mount Everest the fee will be $15,000 during the peak season, up 36% from its $11,000 fee, the BBC reported. If you climb outside of the peak season, it will still be a 36% increase. From September until November, it will cost $7,500 while the December to February period will be $3,750.
