LINCOLN PARK, MI (AP)— A Michigan State Police officer will be taken off life support after his vehicle was rear-ended last week while parked along I-75 near Detroit. Daniel Kerstetter worked for the state police Motor Carrier Division, which keeps an eye on trucks and other commercial vehicles.

Kerstetter, 45, could not overcome the injuries he sustained in the Friday crash, and his family decided to donate his organs, according to the state police.

Daniel Kerstetter had been with MSP for less than two years when he died following a crash this week. But his impact will be felt for years to come.
