Rama was born on Navami (the ninth day) of Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of lunar month) in the month of Chaitra (April – May). Year on year, Hindus celebrate Ram Navami with great devotional fervor.
Ram Navami celebrations include reading the great epic Ramayana and staging plays of the Ram Lila, or the pastimes of the life of Lord Rama.
