Firefighters from Minnesota are heading to fight multiple active wildfires across Southern California that scorched over 50,000 acres across three counties.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced Friday that Minnesota will send a crew of wildfire firefighters from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to help with the ongoing wildfires in Southern California.

A team of Minnesota firefighters will be heading west to help battle the ongoing wildfires around Los Angeles. Gov. Tim Walz announced the state will send a crew of Minnesota DNR wildland firefighters to support the response in southern California.

At least 29 people are believed to be dead and more than a dozen others remain unaccounted for as multiple wildfires rage across Southern California.

A new wildfire was reported today at 12:23 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no data indicating the containment progress of the fire and its cause has not yet been determined.

The death toll from the wildfires plaguing the Los Angeles area in the United States has risen to 29. The coroner’s office announced on Monday evening that one person died in hospital over the weekend as a result of the “Palisades’’ fire on the western edge of Los Angeles.
