Apple launched a new Digital ID feature for users to add passport information to their Apple Wallet, which will be accepted at 250 TSA checkpoints.
In its press release, Apple emphasized that Digital ID builds on the same privacy and security protections already available in Apple Wallet. They said that all Digital ID data is encrypted, and when users create one, their passport information is stored locally on the device.

Apple Watch and iPhone owners in the United States will now be able to carry a copy of their U.S. passport on their device, which they can then use at TSA checkpoints across more than 250 U.S. airports when traveling domestically.
Though the new feature allows you to have your passport information at hand, the company has emphasized that it is not a replacement for a physical passport.
