Fire and Ash' when he noted that the third 'Avatar' film will surpass 2022's 'The Way of Water' in runtime — and said that his wife Suzy Amis Cameron "bawled for four hours" after watching the new movie for the first time.

While some thought the Avatar franchise was already past its prime, the box office success of Avatar: The Way of Water certainly showed that people would turn out. And by all indications, they’re going to get one hell of a movie when they do.

“In a nutshell, we had too many ideas packed into act one of movie 2,” Cameron told Empire. “The [film] was moving like a bullet train, and we weren’t drilling down enough on character. So I said, ‘Guys, we’ve got to split it.’ Movie 3 will actually be a little bit longer than movie 2.”
