Vinnie Sunseri, who played safety at Alabama from 2011-13, will replace Austin Armstrong, who left UF after two seasons for the University of Houston.

Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com and 247Sports first reported late Saturday morning that Sunseri, recently hired as Jacksonville State’s new defensive coordinator, instead will join Billy Napier’s staff. He replaces Austin Armstrong, who left in December to become defensive coordinator at Houston.

Vinnie Sunseri always was known as an aggressive player for Alabama, as a safety running all over the place and hitting people. He's since carried that approach over to his coaching career, on Saturday accepting his second job in three and a half weeks since leaving the University of Washington -- going from the Huskies to Jacksonville State to Florida.

Sunseri, who starred at Alabama and became a fifth-round NFL Draft pick, has been poised to become Charles Kelly's defensive coordinator at Jacksonville State.
