The secretary of homeland security is set to join Gov. Andy Beshear to address the Commonwealth as Kentuckians deal with the aftermath of deadly, widespread flooding.

The death toll from last week ’ s severe weather in Kentucky has risen to 21, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Saturday. The state was hit with deadly flooding amid freezing temperatures last weekend, which continued to devastate the central Plains as another storm system brought more heavy snow and wind.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, in separate announcements late Friday and late Saturday, said the death toll from the recent flooding and severe cold has again increased. Now, 21 Kentuckians have died, Beshear said in posts on X, formerly Twitter.
