Striking Union of Gloucester Educators held a march from Gloucester High to City Hall at 1 p.m. Thursday where a rally took place with speakers calling for “respect.”

The Gloucester Teachers Association (GTA) and Beverly Teachers Association (BTA) were fined $50,000, and The Gloucester Association of Educational Paraprofessionals (GAEP) was fined $15,000 after missing the 6 p.m. deadline to return to work, in accordance with an Essex Superior Court judge’s ruling.

BEVERLY - Teachers in Beverly and Gloucester, Massachusetts have voted to go on strike. Schools in both North Shore cities will be closed on Friday. According to the Beverly Teachers Association, they have been working to reach a deal on a new contract for almost a year.
