On Thursday at 2:08 a.m. a cold weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 7 p.m. until Friday 9 a.m. for Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva and Houston counties.

“Temperatures will continue to slowly rise through the single digits and teens today. Therefore, the cold weather advisory will expire at 10 a.m. this morning,” states the National Weather Service.

The “cold weather advisory” is a new type of advisory for the National Weather Service, replacing the “wind chill advisory,” said Daniel Hartsock, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland.
