At approximately 8:35 a.m. firefighters responded to blaze at Hueneme and Laguna roads, according to initial reports. Dubbed the Laguna Fire, it was burning quickly and initially pegged at about 3 acres with a rapid rate of spread.

CSU Channel Islands evacuated due to the rapidly spreading Laguna Fire in Camarillo, with firefighting efforts underway.

The county sheriff said Potrero Road is closed due to the fire.As of 10:35 a.m., Cal Fire said the fire has burned at least 50 acres. Crews have not established any perimeter around the burn area, otherwise known as containment.
