We walked across the Westminster Bridge and found a nice spot to view Big Ben. We waited for the top of the hour so we could listen to the ringing of the bells. Worth it!Full review by 227maryh
Hi - planned a trip to London and my son is desperate to hear the great bell ring at noon. We don't want to go inside the Elizabthen tower and rather view the clock and hear the chimes from outside. Does anyone know how close you can actually get and where's the best place to stand for a good view. Thanks

Agree with DennisDart1: there's loads of public land around the tower where you can hear the bell well. However, I especially recommend standing in the large, lovely, green garden facing the clock outside Westminster Hall. The garden is called New Palace Yard and is very easy to find on online maps. You can see the clock face easily and will get the full sound, no problem.
Is it open for visitors in 2023? The renovation has finished in 2022 and yet the Parliament's website says "During the conservation work on Big Ben, we have paused tours of Parliament's clock tower. " Nonsense.
