The beach was not crowded, and we were in Croatia two years ago when we couldn't even dream about a half empty beach. A local suggested it and it is a beautiful beach. Full review by LukeTheUkLad

Hi John. Split is busy during peak summer period. It is the main port to travel to islands and Dubrovnik. You will find places such as the five star hotel or other very nice accom located south toward Podstrana Beach. Staying on the island Hvar is ideal if you want pure peace and beach. Like every place in Europe, beaches become crowded as locals share with tourists to escape the heat. Split itself is busy yet bearable. Restaurants, bars etc are in high demand along the esplanade. I would recommend staying on the island or travel half hour from Split to escape the crowds.
