Nice park along the ocean. Campground had some really nice spots, then a number that were like big open fields with lots of spaces, which may be good for groups. Spots under the trees were nice and… Full review by Maxine H

My husband and I want to stay here in early March, for our anniversary. He wants to feel like he is less in a campground and more away from people. Are there any spots in particular that anyone would recommend? Preferably sheltered too, so we don't get too blown over and cold. He also has a tent for on top of his truck that he wants to use.

First, you might find 136-140 good, with 138 and 139 very private. That said, keep in mind that California charges a lot for their camping but gives you little in return as regards amenities compared to, say Oregon. Also they do not invest any of that money back into the parks, as you will see at MacK where even hiking trails around the lake are closed due to failure to upkeep. The general area is fun though with fairly good bike trails and beautiful scenery. Hope you have fun. Come to Oregon next time!

Hi Stacy K, Yes, dogs are allowed on leash and on designated trails, the boardwalks and the old Haul Road which runs from the north end of Fort Bragg at Pudding Creek, through MacKerricher, and north. They are not allowed after the Inglenook Fen north of MacKerricher, in Cleone since there is a restoration project going including rehabitation of the Snowy Plover, but it is all posted very prominently so you won't miss the stopping point. Hope you all have a great time!

We stayed at a hotel and walked around the park. Don’t remember losing cell service at all, but wasn’t really paying attention. Do remember other people were on their phones, and one lady actually lost hers and her hubby was calling it.
