Kaunos is a substantial historical site, dating back to the 4th Century BC. Some boat tours will allow access to the site, but it's best to get there independently by a short (rowing boat) ferry cro…Full review by Fergs85

Previous answers, including mine, explain this. Take the rowing boat ferry across the river ( just by the Tea Garden & opposite the “Other Side” restaurant.) Turn to the left and walk along the tarmac road till you get to a left turn that leads uphill to Kaunos. This is no more than a 30 minute walk, with some shade.

Hello, We are going to the Asur Hotel in Dalyan in September and want to visit Kaunos. The hotel is on the riverbank down stream at the edge of the town. Where do we have to go to get the boat across? Thanks in advance.

If you walk past the boats to where the taxi boats are there are women who will row you across to the other side. Where you can have a nice cold drink and pancakes a plenty. Then you can walk up the road to kaunos it was 12 lira in May 2019. A must is a walk down to the lower level where there were cattle, donkeys, sheep tortoises all over lots of wildlife

We went to Kaunosa couple of weeks ago, got the little rowing boat across. We got there about 10.30 & it was open. 12lira each for entrance fee. We didn't see the tractor, so maybe as it wasn't in holiday season it wasn't running. I was told though that there was a tractor you could use. It only took us about 15 minutes to walk it tho.

Yes, It is possible to reach the Kaunos ruins by car. It is quite a long but scenic drive from Dalyan by car as you have to go all the way around Lake Köyceğiz. I would guess that the rowing boats cross the river all year round as they are used by local people as well as tourists.

around 6.00pm. If you plan to spend a bit of time there allow yourself a couple of hours. I have visited the site in May and August. May was the better regarding temperature, but I went 9.30 in the morning in August, cheated and got the little tractor ride to the site which saves a lot of getting hot and bothered beforehand for 5 lira. It was fine even with 38degPlus. Plenty of water and a pancake and drink back at the little café at the bottom. Always worth the effort..
