Second trip to this beautiful spot and this time with friends. It is along hike and in the warmer weather (it was a scorcher the day I went) be prepared to eat a few flies on the way up. It is a long…Full review by Sherpa64620387272

Great experience, we hiked up to the pools on 28/12/24. Left the car park at 8.30am in the dark with crampons and head torches a definite must. We passed smoking vents, bubbling mud pools and waterfa…Full review by Roger H

From what I’ve read elsewhere, it seems that bathing in the river nude is not prohibited, but that most tourists choose to wear swimsuits. So many people go in the water nude, and can you get in trouble for doing so? Given it’s in the middle of nowhere and there aren’t strict ‘rules’ I assume it’s OK?
A:
I’ll speak as an Icelander. You can go nude no problem at all, Icelanders will not care and there is no law against nudity in Iceland. Indecent exposure is illegal so long as you don’t …

I’ll speak as an Icelander. You can go nude no problem at all, Icelanders will not care and there is no law against nudity in Iceland. Indecent exposure is illegal so long as you don’t stand in front of people doing the “helicopter” you should be fine. It may shock some puritan tourists but who cares, it’s their shame not yours. If you consider being topless nude you may like to know that women can walk around topless wherever they want. Downtown Reykjavík if they choose to do so. Iceland is body positive country and quite liberal when it comes to nudity. I saw some other people say otherwise but it’s incorrect. Free your Willy… we don’t care.
Q:
Wondering if there is there any kind of washroom facility at the car park?
A:
There is a car park there. But you need to walk around 45 minutes up and over a mountain to get to the valley
Q:
How strenuous is the hike? I will be 6 months pregnant and not very athletic.

The hike is somewhat strenuous. We started the hike with my mom who is 75 and she decided to quit about a quarter of the way up. Both me and my friend (50) continued on and made it all the way to the springs. We did stop a few times because it is entirely uphill and also started snowing heavily (we were there in October). I think that if you give yourself plenty of time and stop when you are out of breath, you will be fine.
